Today I am Spring Cleaning.
One of the good parts about being a writer is that you find yourself at home and able to indulge crazy ideas on a whim. The bad part being that half an hour later when you are Fed Up With That Idea you have to clear up your own mess.
The sun has decided to put in an appearance to day and so to mark the new month, new season and fresh start I began stripping beds, opening windows and generally trying to Get Organised. It is now Five Hours Later and other than three loads of washing and a large pile of stuff marked ‘Charity’ I seem to be making little progress…
I text my Mother to ask her advice. She of the Institute of Household Efficiency and Management. Her reply was ....
“Three bags full dear” (I feared this was an early sign of dementia but no she explained) -
One for the Dump
One for the Charity
One for the Winter
Oh and don’t forget to open all the windows and the back door, to let the old blow out and the new blow in. Makes everything fresh as a daisy and ‘Airs the House’.... she forgot to tell me to wear thermals and a woolly hat, as it also makes everywhere bloomin’ freezing.
I have to admit she was right though. It does blow the cobwebs away ....
